Tele2 expands the SpeechFrame® platform with Intelligent Roaming.
Soesterberg, April 2010 - Telecom operator Tele2 has decided to use the Comsys SpeechFrame® platform for steering Voicemail Roaming. The solution is called Intelligent Roaming and is part of the Comsys product suite. Intelligent Roaming is developed to reduce Voicemail Roaming costs.
The European Union decided in June 2009 that Voicemail Roaming costs may not be charged to customers within the EU as of July 1st, 2010. The Intelligent Roaming solution can optimize call routing for roaming connections and so avoid unnecessary costs for operators.
When calls are routed to Voicemail while users are abroad, a complex transmission path is being used. This is part of the GSM standard architecture. In effect calls are first routed abroad and then back to the home network Voicemail system.
By using Intelligent Roaming, the high costs of this -trombone- transmission can be removed. To realize this, the Comsys SpeechFrame® Intelligent Roaming Solution is connected to the STP, MSC or MSS. This signaling connection can be based on INAP or CAMEL. Besides TDM, it is also possible to use SIGTRAN.
